Young leaders are helping peers recognise risk, protect their privacy and find trusted support using language grounded in their own experience.
In community learning circles, girls are moving from participants to facilitators. With support from RMT mentors, they design practical discussions around privacy, harmful contact, misinformation and where to seek help.
Digital safety becomes real when girls can ask honest questions, practise solutions and lead the conversation.
The sessions use role play, peer examples and phone-based demonstrations. This approach makes online safety less abstract and gives participants language they can use with friends, teachers and caregivers.
The work is part of RMT’s wider Digital Transformation programme, which connects technical skills with confidence, wellbeing and protection. Feedback from each dialogue helps facilitators adapt the next session.
